Reticular Veins

Reticular veins are also known as feeder veins. They are slightly larger than spider veins.

These dilated veins appear bluish or greenish in color and will be visible to the eye. As such, they are usually considered a cosmetic problem, and may not create any noteworthy medical complications.

A common cause of reticular vein formation may be genetic; some of us may be born with weak veins.

Another common cause may be hormonal imbalances, like that of progesterone. They are frequently a result of underlying venous reflux in larger named veins.

Thus, all patients with visible reticular veins should undergo lower extremity ultrasound vein mapping.

“I started getting spider veins in my 20s and was embarrassed to wear shorts and skirts. And living in Las Vegas, it is too hot to wear pants all the time. Dr. Simon was very professional and was able to get rid of what I had AND stop new veins from appearing. THANK YOU DR. SIMON!!!”
